In the year 2020, life surprised me in the midst of a pandemic, taking the first steps on the path of audiovisual art. My connection with the visual arts has been with me since childhood; I grew up and trained as a professional in graphic design and photography. In 2020, I created the “Afro Cultural Collective El Machete of Barú Island” and since then, I began my career as an audiovisual director and content creator. Since 2014, I have been creating a photographic and audiovisual archive, with the aim of preserving the memory of the Afro-descendant communities living on Barú Island for future generations. In 2020, I won the Manuel Zapata Olivella scholarship in the second phase of the Stimuli call, with the project “LiberARTE, Afro Stories of Barú Island”, which combines audiovisual language with research and the promotion of Manuel Zapata Olivella's works. In 2022, I won another scholarship from the Ministry of Culture of Colombia and directed the production of the second series web “LiberARTE II. Stories about Racism on Barú Island.” LiberArte Isla de Barú 2 “I Have Seen the Night.” In 2025, I carried out post-production work on the short film “I Sculpt When I Dance,” creating new content that includes translations into English and sign language. LiberArte Isla de Barú “I Sculpt When I Dance.” I also experimented with creating audiovisual animation pieces in projects developed with children from the Afro-descendant communities of Barú Island.
