Filmed in Cartagena
Cartagena de Indias’ long love affair with cinema began, according to history, on August 22, 1897, when it became one of the first cities where moving images were projected using Edison’s Vitascope. Another major milestone took place in 1959, when a group of friends led by Víctor Nieto decided to found what is now the Cartagena International Film Festival – FICCI, the oldest film festival in Latin America. The footsteps of Grace Kelly must have still echoed through the streets of the Historic Center during the filming of Green Fire in 1954. Since then, the city has been a constant backdrop for productions, building a long legacy of iconic films proudly bearing the mark of Cartagena de Indias. Here are some of the most notable.
