Daily Life & Residential

Strategically located, close to the beach and the historic center and founded in the mid-twentieth century, Canapote is one of the most traditional and recognized popular neighborhoods in the city. It is one of the few neighborhoods in the city that has its own church, hospital and sports facilities (Los Bravitos children's baseball stadium). In its main square, in front of its characteristic yellow church, the Canapote cross stands out.

As in many neighborhoods that embody the true essence of Cartagena, it is common to find scenes of everyday life in its streets: from street barbers to neighbors sitting in doorways chatting or playing dominoes, and of course, children playing in the streets. It is typical in Cartagena’s neighborhoods for street corners to have a small shop that serves as a main meeting point for the community.

Canapote Neighborhood
  • The Canapote neighborhood is made up of 8 streets and 5 avenues and is a neighbor of the also traditional Daniel Lemaitre neighborhood.
  • It is well connected to the rest of the city by the Paseo Bolivar.
