The Olaya Herrera neighborhood is the largest in Cartagena and, together with El Pozón, the most densely populated. It is located on the perimeter road and separates the Ciénaga de la Virgen de la Popa, so it has a natural environment of special beauty with great vegetation. Most of its many streets, popular, busy, full of commerce and outdoor life, are a great representation of Cartagena life outside the tourist areas and the historic center. Among the most emblematic places in the neighborhood is the Olympic Village.

Founded in the 1940s, the neighborhood is located in the southeast of the city in locality 2 "De la Virgen y Turística", the most densely populated of Cartagena, with limits between Avenida Pedro Romero, Vía de la Cordialidad, Caño Juan Angola and the Ciénaga de la Virgen, on which there are stilt houses in the area known as La Arrocera.
